Biografia:
Nato nel 1961, frequenta l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Carrara dove segue i corsi di pittura tenuti da Getulio Alviani e Luciano Fabro. Si iscrive all’Isia di Firenze dove si diploma in industrial design nel 1990 con il progetto di un paravento in cartone col quale vince il premio Design for Europe in Belgio. Nel 1990 é a Milano per lavorare con Enzo Mari. Rimane con lui fino al 1992 per poi tornare in Toscana ed iniziare la propria attività con il fratello Giuseppe. Dal 1994 partecipa a molte delle mostre organizzate allo Spazio Opos a Milano e a numerose altre in Italia e all’estero. Risalgono al 1995 i primi progetti entrati in produzione con Driade e Bieffeplast. Nel 2000 partecipa al Salone Satellite e vince la prima edizione del Design Report Award. Negli anni successivi vince il premio Dedalus e inizia a collaborare con Droog Design e con alcune aziende italiane come FontanaArte, Luminara, Zani&Zani, BBB Bonacina, Sensi&C., Coop, Azzurra Ceramiche, Skitsch.

Biography:
Born in 1961, Paolo Ulian studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara under Getulio Alviani and, subsequently, Luciano Fabro. He then attended the ISIA in Florence, where he received a diploma in Industrial Design in 1990 with a design for a paperboard screen that went on to win the Design for Europe prize in Belgium. After graduating, he started work with Enzo Mari in Milan, where he remained until 1992, when he decided to return to Tuscany and set up a practice with his brother Giuseppe. Since 1994, he has taken part in many of the exhibitions staged at the Opos Space in Milan, and in other shows held in Italy and overseas. 1995 was the year in which his designs were first put into production by Driade and Bieffeplast. In 2000, he participated in the Salone Satellite of the Milan Furniture Fair and won the first Design Report award. More recently, he won the Dedalus prize and began collaborating with Droog Design and with a number of companies including FontanaArte, Luminara, Zani&Zani, BBB Bonacina, Sensi&C., Coop, Azzurra Ceramiche and Skitsch.
