Biografia:
Nata nel 1969, si laurea in Industrial Design in Brasile. Nel 1994 termina un master presso la Scuola Politecnica di Design a Milano. Dal 1995 al 2001 collabora con Sottsass Associati, sviluppando diversi progetti. Dal 2006 lavora come designer indipendente con un proprio studio a Rio de Janeiro. Tra i lavori recenti ha disegnato argenti per Pampaloni, vasi in vetro serigrafato per Egizia, posate inox per Abert e Brognoli, decori per Muraoka Japan, porcellane per Rosenthal, mobili per Edra, gioielli per San Lorenzo, luci per Tecnodelta, interni di yacht per Lurssen. Ha ricevuto diversi premi e riconoscimenti: al concorso per: elettrodomestici in Brasile nel 1992, con giocattoli per bambini Lorenz in Germania nel 1998, al concorso “Young&Design” e al premio Macef edizione 2002 in Italia. Nello stesso anno è stata selezionata per l’ADI Design Index con la chaise longue Pororoca disegnata per Edra. Nel 2003 ha ottenuto il premio “The Best Yachts of 2002 - Show Boats Awards” con Motor Yacht Skat.
Biography:
Born in 1969, Flavia Souza graduated in Industrial Design in Brazil. In 1994, she completed her Masters degree in Milan. From 1995 to 2001, she worked with Sottsass Associati on a number of different projects. In 2006, she set up her own practice in Rio de Janeiro. Her recent work includes silverware for Pampaloni, silk-screened glass vases for Egizia, stainless-steel cutlery for Abert and Brognoli, decorations for Muraoka Japan, porcelain for Rosenthal, furniture for Edra, jewellery for San Lorenzo, lights for Tecnodelta and yacht interiors for Lurssen. She has received various awards, including: a prize at the Home Appliances Contest in 1992 in Brazil; the Lorenz Prize in Germany for a children's puzzle in 1998; an award at the 'Young&Design' competition in Italy; and the Macef Award in 2002. In that same year, she was ed for the ADI Design Index thanks to her Pororoca chaise longue (manufactured by Edra). She received the Grand Prize at the 'Best Yachts of 2002 – Show Boat Awards' for the Skat motor yacht.
