Biografia:
Nato a Berlino nel 1968, è crsciuto a Londra, dove ha studiato ingegneria al South Bank Polytechnic e industrial design al Royal College of Art. Trasferitosi a Milano ha avviato i propri progetti sperimentali tra cui House in a Box, Scum e il concept di abbigliamento Tape. Questi e altri progetti concettual formano il nucleo centrale del suo lavoro. Ha anche lavorato per importanti aziende tra cui Magis, Vitra, Kreo, Moulinex, SFR e IDEE. Il suo lavoro è stato esposto al Design Museum di Londra, al Vitra Design Museum di Basilea e Berlino, al Palais De Tokyo e alla galleria Kreo a Parigi, e fa parte delle collezioni permanenti del MoMA, New York, del Fonds National de Art Contemporain, Francia e del Musee d´Art Grand-Duc Jean, Luxembourg. Nel 2005 è stato ospite d’onore a Design Brussels. Ha insegnato presso: Royal College of Art di Londra, Domus Academy di Milano, ECAL di Lausanne, HfG di Karlsruhe, Vitra Design Workshops e HBK Saar.Nel 2004 è tornato a Berlino, dove oggi vive e lavora.
Biography:
Born in Berlin in 1968, Jerszy Seymour grew up in London, where he studied Engineering at South Bank Polytechnic and Industrial Design at the Royal College of Art. Whilst living in Milan he worked on his own experimental projects, including House in a Box, Scum and the clothing concept Tape. These and other ongoing experimental and conceptual projects form the central thrust of his work. He has also designed for companies including Magis, Vitra, Kreo, Moulinex, SFR and IDEE. His work has been exhibited in the Design Museum in London, the Vitra Design Museum in Basel and Berlin, the Palais De Tokyo and Gallery Kreo in Paris, and is held in the permanent collections of MoMA (New York), the Fonds National de Art Contemporain (France) and the Musee d´Art Grand-Duc Jean (Luxembourg). In 2005, he was Guest of Honour at Design Brussels. He has taught at the Royal College of Art in London, the Domus Academy in Milan, the ECAL in Lausanne, the HfG in Karlsruhe, the Vitra Design Workshops and the HBK Saar. In 2004, he returned to Berlin, where he currently works and lives.
