Biografia:
Nato a Roma nel 1949. Nel 1981 ha pubblicato Codex Seraphinianus, FMR, Milano, che nel 2006 è stato ripubblicato per la settima edizione da Rizzoli e nel 1983 Pulcinellopedia piccola, Longanesi, Milano. Architetto e designer, ha scritto racconti per vari editori e articoli per riviste e giornali. Negli anni Ottanta si è dedicato al design e ha realizzato scene e costumi per il Teatro alla Scala e per il Piccolo Teatro di Milano, scenografie per la RAI, sigle televisive e un programma per Radio Tre. Ha collaborato con Fellini al film La Voce della Luna. È stato visiting artist in Canada, al Banf Center e al McLuhan Program. Ha esposto tra l’altro alla Fondazione Mudima di Milano, alla XIII Quadriennale, alla Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna di Roma e alla Biennale di Venezia. Per la Metropolitana di Napoli, stazione Mater Dei, ha realizzato un’installazione. Nel 2007 si è tenuta al PAC di Milano una sua mostra antologica dal titolo Luna-Pac Serafini.
Biography:
Luigi Serafini was born in Rome in 1949. 1981 saw the publication – by FRM in Milan – of his Codex Seraphinianus, the seventh edition of which was republished by Rizzoli in 2006, and in 1983 he completed the Pulcinellopedia Piccola (published by Longanesi, Milan). An architect and designer, he has written books for various publishers, as well as numerous articles for journals and newspapers. In the 1980s, he focused on design, creating stages and costumes for La Scala and the Piccolo Teatro in Milan, and backs for RAI (the Italian State broadcaster), as well as TV themes and a programme for Radio Tre. He worked with Fellini on La Voce della Luna, and served as a visiting artist at the Banff Centre and the McLuhan Program in Canada. He has exhibited his work at the Fondazione Mudima in Milan, at the 13th Quadriennale, at the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome and at the Venice Biennale. He created an installation for the Mater Dei station on the Neapolitan subway, and in 2007 the PAC in Milan played host to an anthological exhibition of his work entitled Luna-Pac Serafini.
