Biografia:
Architetto e designer, nasce a Beirut, studia all’Institut National des Beaux Arts del Libano, dove si laurea in architettura nel 1973. A Parigi e Milano approfondisce gli studi e le esperienze nel campo del product design, dell’architettura e dell’arte. Nel 1978 si stabilisce a Milano ed apre lo studio di progettazione Sawaya & Moroni. Nella 1984 fonda insieme a Paolo Moroni: Sawaya & Moroni Contemporary Forniture per la quale dirige e coordina le attività artistiche e progettuali. In seguito inizia a disegnare, oltre che per Sawaya & Moroni, anche per altre società, come: Swiss Air, (ora Suisse), FIFA, Museo Bagatti Valsecchi, Heller Incorporated, Sicis Mosaici, Corepla, Baccarat, Andreu World, MINI, Zucchetti, Absolute Vodka, UNICEF. Ha partecipato a varie mostre personali e collettive d’arte e di design. Il suo lavoro viene regolarmente pubblicato su libri, riviste e quotidiani ed è presente in vari musei e in tante collezioni pubbliche e private.

Biography:
Architect and designer William Sawaya was born in Beirut, where he graduated from the National Academy of Fine Arts in 1973. He went on to study in Paris and Milan, accumulating experience in the fields of product design, architecture and art. In 1978, he moved permanently to Milan and set up the Sawaya & Moroni practice, specialising in architecture and design. In 1984, together with Paolo Moroni, he co-founded Sawaya & Moroni Contemporary Furniture, for which he manages the artistic and design activities. Recently, he has started to design for companies and organisations other than Sawaya & Moroni, including: Swissair, FIFA, the Museo Bagatti Valsecchi, Heller Incorporated, Sicis Mosaici, Corepla, Baccarat, Andreu World, MINI, Zucchetti, Absolute Vodka and UNICEF. He has participated in various personal and collective art and design exhibitions. As an architect and designer, his work is regularly featured in books, design and architectural journals and newspapers, and is included in numerous international museums and public and private collections.
