Biografia:
Nato nel 1959 ha studiato architettura laureandosi nel 1981 all'Istituto Reale di Tecnologia di Stoccolma. Nel 1989 avvia la sua attività professionale in proprio, realizzando vari progetti. Ha disegnato linee di prodotti per IKEA e diversi pezzi di arredamento, tra cui la credenza Panik, per molte aziende internazionali. Ha lavorato come designer per Artemide, Asplund, Offecct, Tronconi, FSB, e Leucos.
Thomas Sandell ha esposto le sue opere presso numerosi musei e fiere in tutto il mondo, fra cui la Exhibition Suedoise a la Grand Arche, Parigi nel 1990, il Pavillion d´Arsenal, Parigi nel 1990, il Design Museum, Londra nel 1993, la Biennale di architettura, Venezia nel 1996 e Swedish style, Tokyo nel 2001 e Los Angeles nel 2002. Sandell è presidente della SAR National Association of Swedish Architectse ha vinto molti premi, come il Excellent Swedish Design per Wedding stool nel 1990, per la panca Air nel 1993 e per la sedia Akvarium nel 1997.
Biography:
Thomas Sandell was born in 1959 and earned his Master of Architecture and Engineering degree from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm in 1985. In 1989, he set up his own practice, where he dealt with numerous different projects. He has designed product lines for IKEA, as well as various other pieces of furniture, including the Panik cupboard, for several international companies, and he has worked as a designer for Artemide, Asplund, Offecct, Tronconi, FSB and Leucos. He has exhibited his works at a plethora of museums and expos all over the world, including the Exhibition Suedoise a la Grand Arche, Paris (1990), the Pavillion d´Arsenal, Paris (1990), the Design Museum, London (1993), the Venice Architecture Biennale, Venice (1996) and Swedish Style, Tokyo (2001) and Los Angeles (2002). Sandell is the President of SAR, the National Association of Swedish Architects, and has received many awards, including the Excellent Swedish Design Award for his Wedding stool in 1990, his Air bench in 1993 and his Akvarium chair in 1997.
