Biografia:
Nata a Firenze dove si è laureata in pedagogia, vive a Roma dove, oltre a realizzare silhouettes in legno e mobili in ferro antropomorfi, scrive e illustra libri per ragazzi per le maggiori case editrici italiane. Ha realizzato cartoni animati per la televisione e per il cinema e ha collaborato come illustratrice per Corriere della Sera, Repubblica, Manifesto e Unità. Da tre anni collabora con Robots per cui ha disegnato il tavolino Egg. Sue mostre personali di pittura, scultura e design sono state allestite a Roma, Milano, Venezia, Osaka, Bruxelles, Parigi, New York e Tokio, dove nel 2002 ha diretto uno stage di scrittura e illustrazione per bambini. È autrice di varie campagne pubblicitarie come Omnitel, Volvo, Alitalia. Collabora con il Teatro Argentina e Palaexpò di Roma, con Il Museo Archeologico di Napoli. Insegna dal 1995 illustrazione per l'infanzia all'Istituto Europeo di Design di Roma. Premio Battello a Vapore migliore illustratrice per ragazzi 1999.
Biography:
Born in Florence, where she graduated in Education, Chiara Rapaccini lives in Rome, where – as well as designing anthropomorphic wooden silhouettes and iron furniture – she writes and illustrates children's bookss. She has created cartoons for TV and the cinema, and has served as an illustrator for Il Corriere della Sera, La Repubblica, Il Manifesto and L'Unità. For the past three years, she has worked with Robots – the company that commissioned her Egg table. Her solo painting, sculpture and design shows have been staged in Rome, Milan, Venice, Osaka, Brussels, Paris, New York and Tokyo, where she served as Director in 2002 of a children's writing and illustration programme. She has been responsible for various advertising campaigns for the likes of Omnitel, Volvo and Alitalia, and she collaborates with the Teatro Argentina and Palaexpò in Rome and with the Archaeological Museum in Naples. Since 1995, she has been teaching at the European Design Institute in Rome. She won the Battello a Vapore prize for Best Children's Illustrator in 1999.
