Giovedì 13 maggio alle ore 19.00 una selezione di 85 disegni autografi di alcuni fra i più grandi designer contemporanei di tutto il mondo, scelti tra i 460 donati ed esposti in occasione della mostra “La mano del designer” – terminata domenica 9 maggio – sarà la base di un’asta battuta da Sotheby’s, i cui proventi verranno destinati a Villa Necchi Campiglio proprietà del FAI – Fondo Ambiente Italiano nel cuore di Milano.
Nella sede di Villa Necchi Campiglio saranno battuti all’asta da Filippo Lotti, AD di Sotheby’s Italia, 85 schizzi di importanti designer e architetti tra cui: Michele De Lucchi, Cini Boeri, Alessandro Mendini, Ross Lovegrove, Michael Graves, Massimo Iosa Ghini. Sarà possibile scegliere il disegno preferito e allo stesso tempo contribuire concretamente al sostegno della Fondazione, che destinerà i fondi raccolti al restauro di mobili e oggetti di Villa Necchi, disegnati, in un unicum di straordinaria coerenza, dallo steso Portaluppi, progettista della Villa.
Tutti i restanti disegni saranno comunque acquistabili attraverso vendite dirette o aste successive in diverse città. Tutti i disegni esposti nella mostra “La mano del designer” sono visibili sul sito web bilingue www.lamanodeldesigner.it.
Si tratta di schizzi rapidissimi o scarabocchi di linee che si inseguono quasi senza che la matita si stacchi dal foglio; grafie compulsive che nella velocità dello schizzo riescono a restituire il carattere dell’opera con un’efficacia che nessun disegno esecutivo o rendering riuscirebbe a raggiungere; ma anche collage e bassorilievi in carta.
“La mano del designer”, ha visto l’esposizione di 460 disegni e schizzi autografi di 150 tra i più autorevoli designer italiani e internazionali, donati al FAI in omaggio a Villa Necchi Campiglio.
Tutti i disegni donati sono stati raccolti in un catalogo, realizzato da Moleskine (www.moleskine.com) in formato A4: 361 pagine, rilegate in una nuovissima copertina bianca, con uno sketchbook di 120 pagine bianche da riempire di nuovi progetti. Anche chi acquista il catalogo (€ 59 in vendita presso il bookshop di Villa Necchi) contribuisce alla raccolta fondi del FAI.

At 7.00pm on Thursday 13 May, a ion of 85 autographed drawings by some of the world's leading contemporary designers – chosen out of the 460 donated to FAI (The Italian National Trust) and displayed during the exhibition entitled “The Hand of the Designer”, which comes to a close on Sunday 9 May – will provide the basis for an auction held by Sotheby’s, the proceeds of which will be used for the ongoing restoration of FAI-owned Villa Necchi Campiglio, located in the heart of Milan.
In the prestigious surroundings of Villa Necchi Campiglio, the Managing Director of Sotheby's Italy, Filippo Lotti, will auction off 85 sketches by some of the world's leading architects and designers, including: Michele De Lucchi, Cini Boeri, Alessandro Mendini, Ross Lovegrove, Michael Graves and Massimo Iosa Ghini. Those participating in the auction will have the opportunity to bid on their favourite drawings and, in the process, to make a tangible contribution to supporting the work of FAI (The Italian National Trust), which will use the funds generated to restore the furniture and decorative objects at Villa Necchi Campiglio, which were designed – like the Villa itself – by Piero Portaluppi, making the house and its furnishings very much all of a piece.
All of the remaining sketches will be available to purchase through direct sales or subsequent auctions held in other cities. All of the drawings exhibited as part of “The Hand of the Designer” can be viewed on the following bilingual website: www.lamanodeldesigner.it.
The collection includes: rapidly drawn sketches or scribbled lines that follow on from each other almost as if the pencil never once came off the sheet; compulsive pencil marks that, at the speed of the sketch, succeed in miraculously restoring the character of the work, with the sort of effectiveness that no working drawing or final rendering can ever achieve; and, last but not least, collages and paper bas reliefs.
“The Hand of the Designer” has seen the exhibiting of 460 autographed drawings and sketches by 150 of the most authoritative Italian and international designers, which have been donated to FAI to support the restoration of Villa Necchi Campiglio.
All of the donated drawings have been compiled in a 361-page, A4 catalogue published by Moleskine (www.moleskine.com), featuring a brand-new white cover, which is supplied with a sketchbook with 120 blank pages to be filled with new drawings. Profits from the sale of the catalogue (available at a cost of €59 from the bookshop at Villa Necchi Campiglio) will go towards FAI's fund-raising initiatives.
