Biography:
Philippe Nigro was born in 1975, in Nice, France, and went on to study Design in Antibes, Lyon and Paris. Since 1999, he has been a freelance designer, collaborating closely with the De Lucchi practice, where he participates in the design of products, furniture, lamps, interiors, sets and backs for Italian and international companies. In parallel, he designs his own pieces for Nube Italia and Felicerossi. Since 2005, some of his research projects have been supported by the VIA, which has enabled him to create the Spiral staircase, the Cross-unit containers (manufactured by Sintesi), the Intersection sofas, the Twin-Chairs and the Universal Base table plinth (the prototypes of which are included in the Pompidou Centre's collections). In 2009, his Intersection sofas marked the start of his partnership with Ligne Roset, which produces them under the name Confluences. These sofas won Nigro the Young & Design competition and the Red Dot 'Best of the Best' award in 2009, and were subsequently added to the French National Fund for Contemporary Art collection.
