BIOGRAFIA:
Matilde Alessandra lavora principalmente, ma non solo, con la luce.
Dopo gli studi in scenografia all'Accademia di Venezia ed alcuni anni trascorsi a Londra, la sua carriera inizia a New York negli anni Novanta, quando comincia a sperimentare con la luce, usando tubi fluorescenti con tele dipinte. Da allora si è distinta sia come designer che come artista, sviluppando un tratto che è essenziale e comunicativo e che emerge in tutto il suo lavoro, spaziando dal progetto industriale a grandi istallazioni e sculture luminose. Vive e lavora a New York.
BIOGRAPHY:
Matilde Alessandra's work revolves mainly, but not solely, around light. After studying Theatre Design and Fine Art in Venice, her career began in New York City in the late '90s, when she started to pair fluorescent tubes with painted canvasses, thereby producing her first light sculptures. Since then she has distinguished herself both as an artist and as a designer, developing the essential, communicative trait that emerges from all of her work, from industrial projects to sculptures and large-scale installations. She now lives and works in Italy and New York.
