Biografia:
Nato ne 1969, ha studiato interior design a Brussels dove ha aperto il proprio studio nel 1992. Sin dal 2000 i suoi progetti sono stati prodotti da importanti aziende italiane quali MDF Italia, De Padova, Driade, Cerruti Baleri e Skitsch e ha ricevuto importanti premi tra cui il Compasso d’Oro. Nel frattempo ha proseguito la sua ricerca su edizioni speciali di oggetti ora esposti in note gallerie. Il suo approccio progettuale è chiaramente identificabile dalla tensione visibile che caratterizza i suoi prodotti e dalle curve che risultano dal suo innovativo processo di (de)formazione di superfici metalliche. Presente in oltre 50 esposizioni in tutto il mondo, il suo lavoro è stato oggetto di una retrospettiva nel 2007 al Mac’s – Musée des Arts Contemporains in Belgio ed è parte delle collezioni permanenti di musei quali lo Stedelijk Museum ad Amsterdam e il Musée des Arts Décoratifs a Parigi. Tiene conferenze nelle più importanti scuole di design ed è regolarmente presente all’interno di pubblicazioni di carattere internazionale.

Biography:
Born in 1969, Xavier Lust studied interior design in Brussels, where he opened his own practice in 1992. Since 2000, his designs have been produced by leading Italian brands such as MDF Italia, De Padova, Driade, Cerruti Baleri and Skitsch, and he has been the recipient of many important awards including the Compasso d’Oro. At the same time, he has pursued his research through special-edition pieces, which are now on show in several renowned galleries. His style is clearly identifiable through the visible tension with which he imbues his pieces, and through the curves he uses, which are the result of his innovative (de)formations of metallic surfaces. Shown at over 50 exhibitions worldwide, his work was the subject of a significant retrospective in 2007 at the Mac’s – Musée des Arts Contemporains – in Belgium, and forms part of the permanent collections of museums including the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. He is a frequent guest lecturer at major art and design institutions and he is regularly featured in international design journals.
