Biografia:
Nato a Palermo. Dopo la laurea in architettura si trasferisce a Milano e nel 1991 apre un proprio studio.
Suoi oggetti sono selezionati per prestigiose mostre internazionali tra le quali: Dodici Nuovi – Memphis a Milano, Creativitalia a Tokyo, Capitales Europennes du Noveau Design a Parigi, La Fabbrica Estetica a Parigi, Il Design Italiano 1964-1990 a Milano, 1945-2000-Il Design in Italia-100 oggetti mostra itinerante a Seoul, Beijing, Shanghai, etc., Il Modo Italiano a Montreal,Toronto, Rovereto, 1978-2008 Made in Italy, alla Brazilian Design Biennale a Brasilia. Suoi oggetti sono presenti nelle collezioni permanenti del Design Italiano della Triennale di Milano, del Design del Museum of Fine Arts di Montreal e del Design del Museo Nazionale d’Arte Moderna del Centre Pompidou di Parigi. Tra i riconoscimenti: il Design Plus Prize 2000 alla Fiera di Francoforte, le selezioni al XIX Premio Compasso d’Oro ADI 2001 e al XXII Premios de Disegno cDIM Professionales 2004 alla Fiera di Valencia.
Biography:
Giovanni Levanti was born in Palermo. After graduating in Architecture, he moved to Milan, where he set up his own industrial design practice in 1991. His works have been ed for inclusion in numerous important international exhibitions: Dodici Nuovi – Memphis in Milan; Capitales Europennes du Noveau Design in Paris; La Fabbrica Estetica in Paris; Il Design Italiano 1964-1990 in Milan; 1945-2000 Il Design in Italia-100 oggetti, a touring exhibition that visited Seoul, Beijing and Shanghai, amongst other cities; Il Modo Italiano in Montreal, Toronto and Rovereto; and 1978-2008 Made in Italy at the Brazilian Design Biennal in Brasilia. His pieces form part of the permanent collection of Italian design at the Milan Triennale, the Design Collection of the Museum of Fine Arts in Montreal and the Design Collection of the Centre Georges Pompidou. The awards he has received include the Frankfurt Fair Design Plus Prize in 2000, and his work was included in the 19th Compasso d’Oro awards in 2001 and the 22nd cDIM Design Prize in Valencia in 2004.
