Biografia:
Vive e lavora spostandosi tra i suoi studi di Milano, Chicago e Istanbul. La sua idea di design è stata influenzata dal suo formazione nello studio di Ettore Sottsass, dalla interazione tra la cultura della sua terra di origine, la Turchia, e quella italiana, e dalla sua curiosità estesa a tipologie di prodotti molto differenti.
Per Alessi ha reinterpretato la tecnica di lavorazione del filo di metallo, per Egizia ha ricercato decorazioni innovative su vetro, per Guzzini ha lavorato sul trasferimento delle qualità del vetro di Murano sui nuovi materiali plastici, per Vitra ha proposto nuovi materiali plastici per il bagno, e ha contribuito a rivitalizzare la tradizione delle ceramiche Iznik in Turchia. Tra i numerosi premi, i suoi progetti recenti Dondola per Megaron e i prodotti per il bagno per Vitra hanno ricevuto il Red Dot Award 2009 e 2006. Ha tenuto corsi e seminari presso: Domus Academy, Milano; Fukui Prefecture, Japan; Architectural Association, London; Bilgi University, Istanbul; Centro Borges, Buenos Aires, Design Week Belgrade, Design Week Istanbul. Il suo lavoro è stato esposto in tutto il mondo.

Biography:
Defne Koz divides her time between her studios in Milan, Chicago and Istanbul. Her idea of design is influenced by her training in Ettore Sottsass' studio, by the combination of her Turkish and Italian culture, and by her curiosity for very different product types. For Alessi, she reinterpreted the metal wire frame technique; for Egizia, she explored innovative decoration on glass; for Guzzini, she worked on transferring the qualities of Murano glass into industrial injection moulded plastics; for Vitra, she came up with hi-tech gel materials for the bathroom environment; and, last but not least, she helped revive the tradition of Iznik ceramics in Turkey. Her recent Dondola products for Megaron received the Red Dot Award 2009, while her bathroom products for Vitra scooped the Red Dot in 2006. She has lectured at the Domus Academy, Milan; the Fukui Prefecture, Japan; the Architectural Association, London; Bilgi University, Istanbul; the Centro Borges, Buenos Aires; Design Week Belgrade; Design Week Istanbul. Her designs have been exhibited all over the world.
