Biografia:
Perry King e Santiago Miranda fondano lo studio King & Miranda Design nel 1975. Operano in tutti i campi del design e collaborano con aziende in Italia e all’estero, realizzando progetti in Europa, Stati Uniti e Giappone. Sin dall’inizio il loro lavoro è caratterizzato dalla convinzione che il design sia un’espressione importante della nostra cultura e che ogni oggetto trasmetta segnali, stimoli, emozioni e determini nuovi modi di vita e di lavoro. Da qui la necessità di affrontare l’attività professionale con pragmatismo e attenzione alla tecnologia, sempre nel rispetto dei significati che il design può assumere come parte integrante di un contesto culturale più grande. I loro progetti sono stati pubblicati e premiati in numerose occasioni ed esposti in personali e collettive. Entrambi hanno sviluppato attività didattica e di ricerca partecipando a conferenze e giurie in tutto il mondo. King è RDI Royal Designer for Industry – London e Miranda ha ricevuto il Premio Nacional de Diseño Español.
Biography:
Perry King and Santiago Miranda founded King & Miranda Design in 1975. They are active in all areas of design, working for clients both in Italy and overseas. They are convinced that design is an important part of our culture and, as a result, they approach their work not only with pragmatism and respect for technology but also with respect for those values that are inherent in a vision of design as an integral part of a much wider cultural context. They believe that design must consider each object as a transmitter of structured and cultural signals that stimulate functional and emotional responses. Their designs have been published and awarded prizes in several countries, and there have been many personal and collective exhibitions of their work. Both Perry King and Santiago Miranda are active in research and teaching, and have participated in a plethora of conferences and sat on numerous competition juries. King is an RDI – Royal Designer for Industry – London and Miranda has been awarded the Premio Nacional de Diseño Español.
