Nata nel 1963, Hella Jongerius deve il suo successo al particolare modo in cui fonde industria e artigianato, alta e bassa tecnologia, tradizione e contemporaneità. Dopo essersi laureata nel 1993 alla Design Academy di Einhoven ha avviato una propria attività professionale, Jongeriuslab, con la quale realizza e produce i propri progetti, e disegna per clienti come Maharam, Royal Tichelaar Makkum, Vitra e IKEA. Il suo lavoro è stato esposto in musei e gallerie come il Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum e il MoMA a New York, il Design Museum a Londra, la Galerie KREO a Parigi e la Moss gallery a New York.
Biography:
Born in 1963, Hella Jongerius has garnered a reputation for the special way in which she fuses the industrial and the artisanal, hi-tech and low-tech, the traditional and the contemporary. After graduating from the Eindhoven Design Academy in 1993, she set up her own design company, called Jongeriuslab, through which she produces her own projects and designs for clients such as Maharam, Royal Tichelaar Makkum, Vitra and IKEA. Her work has been exhibited at museums and galleries including the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum in New York, MoMA in New York, the Design Museum in London, Galerie KREO in Paris and the Moss Gallery in New York.
