Biografia:
Nato a Tokyo nel 1938, si laurea in Disegno Industriale alla Tokyo University of the Arts nel 1962. Comincia la sua esperienza professionale in Giappone come designer presso la Seiko, realizzando i progetti di una serie di orologi e contaminuti per i Giochi Olimpici di Tokyo del 1964. Dal 1963 è in Italia dove prosegue la sua attività in differenti settori del design. Nel 1968 fonda il suo studio a Milano. Nel 1982 intraprende un progetto sperimentale ideando e mettendo sul mercato una serie di prodotti innovativi, nello specifico nuove tipologie di cartelle da lavoro: nasce così MH Way. L'attività di progettazione a 360 gradi lo mette direttamente a confronto con gli aspetti legati alla produzione e alla distribuzione. L'azienda, attiva ancora oggi, è uno dei rari esempi di design company di successo. I suoi progetti hanno ottenuto prestigiosi premi e riconoscimenti e fanno parte di esposizioni permanenti in svariati musei del mondo.

Biography:
Born in Tokyo in 1938, Makio Hasuike graduated in Industrial Design from Tokyo University of the Arts in 1962. He started his career in Japan as a designer at Seiko, working on the designs for a series of watches and timers for the Tokyo Olympic Games of 1964. He has been residing in Italy since 1963, operating in various different sectors within the design industry. In 1968, he set up his own practice in Milan. In 1982, he decided to undertake an experimental project, conceiving and releasing onto the market a series of innovative products – including new types of briefcases – and, in the process, giving rise to MH Way. His wide-ranging design work sees him getting directly involved with aspects relating to manufacturing and distribution. The company, which is still in business today, is a rare example of a truly successful design company. Hasuike's designs have been showered with prestigious awards and have been included in permanent exhibitions staged at numerous museums around the world.
