Biografia:
Nato nel 1975 a Salta in Argentina, dopo la laurea in Industrial Design presso la Universidad Nacional de Cordoba si trasferisce a Milano, dove ottiene il Master in Design alla Domus Academy. Vive e lavora a Milano dove nel 2004 apre il proprio studio. Collabora con diverse aziende quali: Artemide, Driade, Danese, Luceplan, Lensvelt, Sector e Olivetti. Il suo lavoro ha ricevuto diversi premi internazionali, fra cui il Primo Premio del concorso promosso da BMW “A key for future mobile solutions” per un innovativo concept car capace di sdoppiarsi in due piccole unità di trasporto ed il Design Report Award per la chaise longue Apero prodotta interamente con tecnologie regionali in Argentina. Insieme ad Alberto Meda ha ricevuto il primo premio del Index Award per la Solar Bottle, che nel 2008 è stata scelta dal MOMA per fare parte della Study Collection. Svolge attività didattica e di ricerca, è visiting professor alla Domus Academy e tiene conferenze in Italia e all’estero.
Biography:
Born in 1975 in Salta, Argentina, after completing his degree in Industrial Design at Universidad Nacional de Cordoba, Francisco Gomez Paz moved to Milan, where he attained a Masters in Design at the Domus Academy and where he now lives and works. He opened his own design studio in 2004 and has since gone on to collaborate with companies such as Artemide, Driade, Danese, Luceplan, Lensvelt, Sector and Olivetti, among many others. His work has received several international awards, including First Prize in the BMW-sponsored competition called 'A key for future mobile solutions' for an innovative concept car that can be split into two smaller transportation units, and the Design Report Award for the Apero chaise longue, made entirely using local technologies in Argentina. Recently, together with Alberto Meda, he scooped First Prize at the Index Awards for the Solar Bottle, which has also been ed for MOMA’s Study Collection. Gomez Paz also works in the fields of research and education; he is a visiting professor at the Domus Academy and has lectured both in Italy and overseas.
