Biografia:
Nato nel 1963 in Svizzera, Cuno Frommherz si è formato come falegname e si è avvicinato al product design da autodidatta. Dal 1996 lavora come designer indipendente. I suoi lavori sono inseriti nelle collezioni di marchi famosi come Cassina, de Sede, Leolux e Rolf Benz. Per Frommherz la creazione nasce dall'osservazione: come viviamo? Cos'è importante per noi? Cos'è la bellezza? Cos'è la verità? Sono queste le domande che lo sfidano e lo motivano a fare continue riflessioni sui mobili. L'interesse creativo punta alla semplicità e alla sobrietà, non alla stravaganza. Per lui è importante che i suoi prodotti instaurino uno scambio con l'ambiente circostante, senza dominarlo. È la delicata lingua degli spazi liberi quella parlata da Cuno Frommherz, proprio come dice una citazione di Joseph Brodsky: “Io posso muovere le dita solo se c'è spazio per farlo”.

Biography:
Born in 1963 in Switzerland, trained cabinet-maker and joiner Cuno Frommherz is a self-taught product designer. He has been working freelance since 1996. His work is represented in the collections of such renowned brands as Cassina, de Sede, Leolux and Rolf Benz. Frommherz regards observation as the origin of creativity: How do we live? What is really important? What is beauty? What is truth? These are the questions that continue to challenge and motivate him as he creates new furniture concepts. His creative interest lies in simplicity and straightforwardness rather than extravagance. It is important for him that his products interact with their environment, and do not come to dominate it. Cuno Frommherz speaks the subtle languages of the 'gaps in between'. As Joseph Brodsky once said: “I can only move my fingers if there’s space to do so”.
