Biografia:
Vive e lavora a Milano. Designer e teorico del design, dai primi anni settanta è stato pioniere dello sviluppo dell’identità emozionale dei prodotti e della sostenibilità estetica nel settore industriale.
Inizia la sua attività professionale nel 1961 al Centro Stile Fiat di Torino e nel 1964, con Ettore Sottsass, alla Olivetti di Milano. Dal 1969 al 1973 coordina il nuovo programma di Corporate Identity della Olivetti. Nel 1973 è co-direttore del Centro Design Montefibre e nel 1974 fonda la CDM srl, oggi Castelli Design. Dagli anni Ottanta inizia l'attività internazionale negli Stati Uniti con Herman Miller e in Giappone con Mitsubishi, Hitachi e Itoki. La sua attività si fonda sul meta-design e sulle applicazioni del CMF (Colori, Materiali e Finiture). Il suo lavoro è stato premiato con riconoscimenti europei e americani, tra cui due Compasso d’oro ADI, l’IBD Gold Award e l’IF Product Design Gold Award. Ha insegnato nelle principali scuole internazionali del design.
Biography:
Clino Trini Castelli lives and works in Milan. A designer and design theorist, since the early 1970s he has been a pioneer in the development of the emotional identity of products and of sustainable aesthetics in the industrial sector. He began his career in 1961 at the Centro Stile Fiat in Turin, and from 1964 served under Ettore Sottsass at Olivetti in Milan. From 1969 to 1973, he co-ordinated Olivetti's Corporate Identity programme. In 1973, he became co-director of the Centro Design Montefibre, and in 1974 he founded CDM srl, now re-named Castelli Design. In the 1980s, he established his international career in the United States with Herman Miller and in Japan with Mitsubishi, Hitachi and Itoki. His work is based on meta-design and CMF (Colours, Materials and Finishes) design applications. His work has received important European and American prizes, including two ADI Compasso d’Oro awards, the IBD Gold Award and the IF Product Design Gold Award. He has lectured at several major international design schools.
