Biografia:

Biography:
Giuseppe Amato was born in Palermo in 1970. During a trip to Japan in 1994, he visited Villa Katsura in Kyoto. From that moment on, he decided to work with raw, natural materials, endeavouring to limit his use of technology and eschewing precious wood species, preferring instead to use only oak from trees that had died of old age. In 2004, he opened Studio Richini in Milan, equipped with machinery salvaged from an old carpenter's workshop. Since then, he has designed interiors, architecture and furniture. Every project is conceived in such a way as to respect the environment, playing with the contrasts between wood, steel, stone and iron. Many of his pieces have been designed as site-specific installations, or in limited editions for private residences and public buildings. His work has been exhibited in the Parallel Events section of the Milan Furniture Fair and at ICFF New York, the IDW Istanbul Design Weekend, the Art Directors' Club NY, the MoMa Design Store, the Isetan Department Store in Tokyo and the Santral Museum in Istanbul.
